What is The Group Committee?

Our Committee is an elected group of parents of youth members from all sections of our Scout Group.

The important volunteer Committee provides administrative and financial management and communicates news, views, achievements, awards and opportunities such as fundraising for the big events like Jamboree.

The Committee members do not wear uniforms, but rather, work behind the scenes to ensure that our youth get the best of all that we can provide in terms of facilities, equipment, skills and fun!

The Committee meets on 1st Monday of the month from 7:00 pm – 8.00 pm. Discussions are always vibrant and enthusiastic and small jobs are allocated to those who have some time to give in support of the group.

It is important that our Scout Group is actively working towards improving outcomes. We can only provide the best Scouting experience for our children if we have enough parents involved and in communication with us regularly!

From 2012, 1st Hazelbrook Scout Group expects that 2 parents from each section will take a role on the committee for a 12 month period. We also encourage ‘job-sharing’ as we recognise that most parents have limited time available for volunteer work.

All parents are encouraged to attend at least 2 committee meetings each year regardless of whether they are on the committee or not. This will help parents understand where their money is being allocated, to learn more about the programs and special activities being offered to the youth members, to contribute their ideas and to provide feedback about ‘how we are going at 1st Hazelbrook Scouts’.

The next AGM will be on 23 May, 2012.

It is the practise of the Scout Group to receive nominations for next committee PRIOR to the AGM, so that parents attending are not concerned about being pressured into taking a major role on the night.

If you would like to take an active role in the Committee in 2012, please contact us.
